Charvel Model 4
The Charvel Model 4 is no longer manufactured, but you can find it on Ebay. Comfortable body, simple design, powerful sound and high-quality materials.
Despite the fact the back plate says Fort Worth, Texas, these guitars were actually made in Japan. I'd argue these guitars are as good as the original Charvels made in San Dimas, California.
This guitar is 20+ years old, but I've managed to keep it almost entirely scratch-free.
To maximize tuning stability with the Kahler system, notice that I have a bit of ChapStick under the strings where they rest on the bridge. Also, to reduce string breakage, I solder the windings (hard to see on the picture). I love the smooth feel of the Kahler system and its endless setup possibilities.
These are active Jackson pickups. They have a really bright and heavy sound - perfect for traditional heavy metal.
Maple neck and Jackson tuners
I'm not a big fan of Kahler's behind-the-nut locking nut. I had to put metal shims inside the main block because of grooves created by the strings. If you want the Kahler system, I highly recommend you use a Floyd Rose-type locking nut.
